Twister on 2-26 out for a short walk.  Twister is doing wonderful now.  He is getting around on his own, using his front leg and also starting to use his rear leg too.

Twister is 60 lbs and eating well.  Twister had tested positive for heartworms and was treated for heartworms a week after surgery.  The future looks bright for Twister.   March he will be tested re-tested again for heartworms and in April Twister will have surgery again to have the pins removed from his front leg.

Twister is a remarkable boy with a very sweet and loving temperament.  His tail never stops wagging.   Will allow you to do anything and wants to please you so much.  Gets along well with the other animals and comes as soon as he hears his name.  He is such a good boy.

Special Thanks to "Jean Faulk" and "The Petfinder.com Foundation" for all their help for Twister.

Day before surgery
Fractured front leg
Hip Area
Leg Pinned
Completion of leg, FHO hip and neuter surgery
             Resting just after Surgery
The front leg was broken, the leg was pinned.  The rear femoral head had to be removed.  The femoral head was shoved up, it could not just be put back in place, the ligaments were all torn away.  The leg was twisted. (This is where his name, Twister came into play) The femoral head was removed. He had his front upper pad half cut off.  He has a piece missing out of his rear leg and his tail had to be removed...And still he comes up smiling and wanting to be petted.  Such a Champ.

Twister's visit at Career Day, held at Southwest Middle School in Deland.
                                                 5 weeks after surgery.

Special Thank you to all the students at Southwest Middle School for giving Twister a very happy day out.  Special thanks to Jodi Underhill for inviting us to Career Day.   We all had a wonderful time.

On Sunday, April 29th, Twister was adopted by a lovely couple from the SpringHill area.

It has been almost 3 months since Twister's surgeries.   The first day we rescued him to now running around the yard so carefree.   He still has a limp, however it does not slow him down.   Twister also has a playmate to keep him company.   He will be spending time in the pool.

So many people made Twister's recovery possible and Twister sends a big hug and kiss to all.
